At this year’s Columbia Bible College (CBC) Christmas chapel, I adapted a creative non-fiction piece I wrote awhile back to serve as a structural liturgy leading up to communion. I never thought about Mary’s pondering in that way before. I usually think she is pondering the terrible things to come, so this was a much less pessimistic way of looking at it. You have no idea how helpful this is for me.
I’m so glad! I’m not sure what made the connection for me with canning, to be honest–but that phrase has always fascinated me…. why pause to tell us that Mary pondered something/treasured something? What are we to understand by that. What are we to ponder?
